Industry Pushes OMB For 'Clear Definition' Of Nano In Pending EPA Rules

Industry groups are urging White House officials to ensure that pending Environmental Protection Agency rules on nanoscale materials include a “clear definition” of what constitutes a nanomaterial, with some citing a recent European Commission (EC) definition that critics say included “no bright lines” about what would and would not be covered by forthcoming regulations. OSHA and NIOSH have both stepped up their attention to nanomaterials as a potential emerging issue as the sector continues to grow, with the agencies working to ensure that any possible health impacts of the technology on work
