OSHA plans to update enforcement directives to deal with ongoing hazards at building sites, the agency's newly installed head of the Directorate of Construction told Inside OSHA Online. Jim Maddux, the new director, indicated in an e-mailed statement about the directorate's goals and challenges that the updates are a key priority for his tenure. Maddux was named to the post in mid-December (see related story). “We will update enforcement directives, especially for the new cranes and derricks standard, to ensure that workers’ safety and health are paramount on construction sites,” Maddux said.
