OSHA Draws On Agency Expertise In Choice To Head Construction Directorate

OSHA plucked from its own veteran ranks in selecting a permanent head of its Directorate of Construction, naming longtime agency official Jim Maddux to the post, in a move that both industry and organized labor officials said would bring a strong administrative hand to lead the directorate along with solid expertise with the agency's inner workings. Maddux, whose appointment becomes effective Dec. 20, most recently served in OSHA's Directorate of Standards and Guidance (DSG) as director of the Office of Physical Hazards and acting director of the Office of Engineering Safety.
