Job-related fatalities last calendar year remained close to the numbers from the prior year, the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) said, and that points in some experts' views to a statistical plateau with respect to injury and illness data. Sources on both the industry and organized labor side say the difference between the preliminary figures -- showing that last year, 4,547 workers died from work-related injuries, down from a final count of 4,551 fatal work injuries in 2009 -- amount to close to the same figures as the year before, with one union official suggesting that catastrophic events
