The BlueGreen Alliance, an organization of 14 union and environmental groups, has unveiled the ChemHAT (Chemical Hazard and Alternatives Toolkit) database. Launched at www.chemhat.org, the free database allows workers to quickly look up 10,000 commonly used chemicals and see their acute and chronic health effects, according to the Alliance. Soon, the database will provide the ability for users to identify safer alternatives to the chemicals they are using, the group says.
