I2P2 Among Topics At Upcoming MACOSH Meeting

Injury and illness prevention programs are on the agenda of an upcoming meeting of the Maritime Advisory Committee for Occupational Safety and Health; the agenda also includes discussions on person in water (man overboard); cargo handling equipment; confined space ventilation; selection of welding shade protection; safe entry and cleaning practices in vessel sewage tanks; best practices for eye injury reduction; and toxic materials, OSHA says. MACOSH, which advises agency chief David Michaels on worker safety and health in the maritime industries, is scheduled in Portland, ME, Sept. 20-21.
