OSHA is seeking public comment on its plans to request an increase in reporting burdens on employers for ensuring compliance with its benzene standards. In a Federal Register notice slated for publication April 19, the agency says it is planning to ask the Office of Management and Budget for an “adjustment increase of 18,726 burden hours (from 126,183 hours to 144,909 hours) in total reporting time” needed to fulfill the rule's reporting requirements. OSHA says the increase is the result of an increase in the number of workers receiving medical examinations due to potential adverse occupational exposure to the chemical.
