Researchers: Costly Design Not Always Needed For Fall Arrest

A pair of researchers writing in Professional Safety, the American Society of Safety Engineers' journal, refute the notion that fall protection in residential projects adds unacceptable costs to the job, or that fall protection always requires modifying and reinforcing structures prior to use, requiring the services of an engineer. The authors analyze cases in which falls were arrested by fall protection systems installed by the builder and/or specialty trade contractor on unmodified structures.
