The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) warns in a new "Vital Signs" report that workplace health hazards are among the dangers from secondhand smoke -- voicing renewed concern as NIOSH studies the issue of environmental tobacco smoke. CDC's report finds that one in four nonsmokers – or 58 million people – in the US are still exposed to secondhand smoke, and to date, 26 states, the District of Columbia, and almost 700 cities have adopted laws prohibiting smoking in work sites, restaurants and bars.
