OMB Director Sylvia Mathews Burwell issued guidance Thursday (Oct. 17) after President Obama the night before signed legislation to fund the government until Jan. 15 and raise the debt ceiling until Feb. 7, allowing OSHA to bring back its staff. The agency had furloughed about 90 percent of its work force during the 16-day federal shutdown. "In the days ahead, we will work closely with Departments and Agencies to make the transition back to full operating status as smooth as possible," Burwell said.
