NIOSH published a notice in the Federal Register asking for public comment on 2,3-pentanedione and other alpha-diketones used as diacetyl substitutes. The agency plans to evaluate the scientific data and develop appropriate communication documents, and potentially establish a recommended exposure limit for diacetyl substitutes.
