On Feb. 12, 2016, OSHA and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health issued this hazard alert warning oil and gas workers of health and safety risks when manually gauging or sampling fluids from oil and gas tanks. The alert warns of exposure to hydrocarbon gases and vapors and risk of fire and explosion from flammable materials.
