House Education and the Workforce Democrats recommended to the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction that Congress adopt the Employee Misclassification Prevention Act to keep employers from sometimes improperly classifying workers as independent contractors. The Labor Department has pursued a similar policy, which could have implications for OSHA coverage.
